Finally, the new feature called “Social Listening” is causing the issue.
This new feature is introduced after NAV2015 RTM and uses a Dll and some pages use the fact boxes related to “Social Listening” and Dll which is required is missing in Database.

Solution:
1.      Open Control Add-In’s page from RTC or Webclient
2.      Add below line using New action (You can check Codeunit 2 Company-Initialize function InsertClientAddIns to copy instead of typing)

3.      Click Import and choose the path where Social Listening Dll is located.

Now Webclient is working fine J

OFFICE 365 INTEGRATION IN NAV 2015 – Excel/SharePoint

$
0
0

If you have signed up for Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics NAV can use this service to open and save documents. For example, when you export a report to Excel and save it on Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics NAV can use Excel Online that your Office 365 account uses to open the document.

Before you can use Office 365 and SharePoint Online with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you must configure the service in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

If you want to use the same folder to store temporary files for all users, you must specify a shared user account. Otherwise, each user's temporary files are stored in their personal document repository on the SharePoint site.

  1.  Open “Online Document Storage Configuration” from below path
  2. Fill the Location to your SharePoint site: Specifies the unified resource indicator (URI) for your site on SharePoint Online, such as https://Cronus.sharepoint.com
  3. Fill the Folder field which specifies the folder in the document repository for this document service that you want documents to be stored in.
  4. This field is required. If you have not already created a subfolder in your document repository, you must create one now, and then specify it in the Folderfield.
  5. The Document Repository field includes the top-level folder in the document repository that your document service provides. The Folder field specifies a subfolder so that you can keep business documents and drafts separate from pictures and other shared documents. For example, if the Document Repository field is set to Documents, the Folder field can be set to Business Documents.
  6. When a user exports data to Excel, for example, Microsoft Dynamics NAV saves the temporary file at the location that is specified in the Document Repository and Folder fields, such as https://Cronus.sharepoint.com/Documents/Business Documents.
  7. Fill Document Repository field: Specifies the name of the document library, such as Documents.
  8. Fill User Name field: Specifies the account that Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server must use to log on to the document service.                                              We recommend that you specify a different user name than the administrative account. This helps reduce the risk of users accessing administrative settings, for example. For example, if your user name as an administrator is CronusAdministrator@Cronus.onmicrosoft.com, then the user name for Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server can be nav@Cronus.onmicrosoft.com or any of the regular user names that you have created.
  9. On the Actions tab, in the General group, choose Set Password.                           In the window that appears, specify and confirm the password for the account    that you specified in the User Name field. Choose the OK button.                  When you have set up the service, you can test whether that configuration is valid.
  10. On the Actions tab, in the General group, choose Test Connection.                       A message displays the result of the test.

Migration is worth it!

Windows Server 2003 extended support ended on July 14, 2015

What does this mean for you?
Microsoft will no longer issue security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003.

If you are still running Windows Server 2003 in your datacenter, you need to take steps now to plan and execute a migration strategy to protect your infrastructure.

By migrating to Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft Azure or Office 365, you can achieve concrete benefits, including improved performance, reduced maintenance requirements, and increased agility and speed of response to the business.

On August 1st 2015 GAC Business Solutions has gone live with the first implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 in the Netherlands. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products upgraded from Microsoft Dynamics 5.0 to the latest version of the ERP solution. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products is the second company in the world to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.

Early transition through TAP
Alex Bouwmeester, project manager for GAC: “We were initially planning to make a transition to Dynamics NAV 2013 R2. Because GAC is a participant in Microsoft’s Technology Adoption Program we could offer more. Thanks to TAP we could offer Honeywell Customized Comfort Products the opportunity to be one of the first companies in the world to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.”

Technology Adoption Program
Microsoft offers the Technology Adoption Program (TAP) to select partners. Their customers are given early access to new software and can participate in its development. Thanks to their participation in TAP GAC was previously tone the first company in the world to implement Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015.

Honeywell Customized Comfort Products
Honeywell Customized Comfort Products is part of Honeywell International. The division has sites at thirteen locations in the Netherlands. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products develops innovative systems, products and services for domestic use. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 gives Honeywell Customized Comfort Products access to new functionality and opens up new possibilities to promote the New World of Work  (NWOW) approach to workers.

Switch to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016
Honeywell Comfort Products wanted to upgrade software support for the company processes with higher performance and a web based environment. The first choice was Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013R2. Participating in TAP allowed Honeywell Comfort Products to get the expanded functionality of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 and allowed for a longer term investment in new ERP software.

Extra features, performance and functionality
Ronald Daris, system architect at Honeywell Customized Comfort Products: “Honeywell Customized Comfort Products has used Microsoft Dynamics NAV for years. Although the software works to our satisfaction, it was time for an update. Thanks to GAC we made a smooth transition to the latest version. We made a fluent switch to Dynamics NAV 2016 which has given us extra features, performance and functionality. The new system is better adapted to our needs.”

Mobile first, cloud first
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 offers multiple advantages over previous versions. The software has been developed from the ‘mobile first, cloud first’ principle announced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Dynamics NAV 2016 makes it easier to offer customers and partner’s access to files and data and has several options to implement location independent working environments.

Innovative solutions
Dynamics NAV 2016 also includes innovative solutions allowing its users to work with any computing platform, from powerful workstations to simple smartphones. Smart implementation of internet technologies and cloud based file synchronization helps keep data up-to-date even during complex team based work efforts

App based hour registration
Honeywell Customized Comfort Products also implemented the hour registration app developed by GAC. This allows employees to quickly and easily register their billable hours by tablet or smartphone. All data is automatically synchronized with the centralized storage in Dynamics NAV. This makes automated hour based invoicing faster, easier and more dependable.

Innovative business software
GAC Business Solutions searches innovative solutions that offer small and medium businesses the best possible software. Thanks to its participation in Microsoft TAP it can offer future versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV today. If you are interested in the best solution for your company, contact us today through

We can add our own tiles to O365 app launcher with Admin rights.

Browse to Admin dashboard by clicking on Admin tile on app launcher.

Choose the ‘Company Profile’ on left menu.

Select ‘Custom Tiles’ from the left menu.

The ‘Custom Tiles’ page looks like below.

Click on ‘Plus’ sign to create a new tile.

We need to also provide the logo for the Tile.

So we need to upload the logo first. We can upload to One Drive and select the full path name and paste in tile Info.

We can also change/remove the tile later on same Custom Tiles page.

Now go to My Apps page on App Launcher.

You can find newly created tile here.

Now click on pin it the App Launcher.

Now we can see the new tile in the App Launcher.

When you click on the NAV Tile then it will directly open the Web client.
